Nicknamed ‘The old reliable’ the named ship of the Olympic class ships is shown passing the seaplane base at Calshot at the end of the Solent with “Mauretania’ passing upstream behind her. In the foreground is the winner of the ‘Schneider Trophy’ competition of 1931, the Supermarine S6B, designed by William Mitchell, who would go on to produce the legendary “Spitfire’ of WW2.

 

850 edition signed and numbered by the artist and Mitchells son, Gordon and Capt Smiths great nephew Don Smith. This is number 275.

Frame not in great condition.
