Beautifully boxed and presented 6 in station pointer. Made by Stanley England for the Admiralty's Hydrographic Department , first check and certified 1966.
Spare polished brass arms in the box. The box and pointer are marked H^O 301.
The station pointer allows an observer’s location to be plotted on a chart by measuring with a sextant the relative angles of three known objects (e.g. land features) from the observer’s position and setting the moveable arms to the observed angles. By placing the instrument on the chart and aligning the arms with the known objects, the centre of the circle indicates the observer’s position.
