A typical british designed two flue iron harpoon with acute stop withers at the end,
This design first appeared mid 18th centuary .. it was more difficult and expensive to make with the stop withers. There are two types of stop withers this one is acute with the sharp angular inward points and there is also obtuse which has squarer flater inward points.. the obtuse version was not as effective as the acute and was probably a later version.
