1960s Dutch Motor Ship Name Board De Vrouw Grietje – Amsterdam
A striking and exceptionally long and lovely wooden name board that has the name De vrouw grietje – Amsterdam, inscribed and painted white on both sides of the board.
Grietje is a Dutch girl’s name derived from Margaretha, whereas De vrouw is used for a woman of a higher standing, like a saint or a noble woman. An appropriate translation would therefore be something like Lady Margaret or The Woman Grietje
