HMS Maidstone 4.5in gun tampion 

She was a submarine depot ship built by John Brown & Co , Clydebank. Serving in WWII , HMS Maidstone was the depot ship for the 1st & 8th Submarine Flotilla.

During the war , she went to Macassar to pick up 400 British naval prisoners of war from HMS Exeter, HMS Encounter and HMS Stronghold.

After the war , she was a flag ship for the Home Fleet .. She was refitted in 1969 to carry troops to Belfast , where she was used as barracks and a prison.

HMS Maidstone was broken up by  Thomas Ward, Inverkeithing in 1978
