Original Rare WW2 Royal Navy Bridge Binnacle
Royal Navy Binnacle Ex Destroyer
This was the standard Pattern of binnacle compass used on the bridge of all the destroyers from the beginning of the 1900’s right through to the 1960’s.
Looking at the some of the fittings and the style of trunk it is in our opinion a pre-war binnacle that has done a great deal of service
In overall very good condition, the compass and gimbal system is very clear and operational. The helmet is clean and clear of bumps and grazes, a rare find as these are often abused at sea
Both the compass and the front brass inclinometer have the Admiralty Crown stamp which harks back to pre war years.
The inclinometer is also fully intact.
The compass is patt no 1950 with a serial number of 788N
A superb stand alone feature piece and a desirable collectable Royal Naval piece.
53in 134cm height
28in 71cm widest
