Original Royal Navy HMS Hercules White Metal Cast Tampion
A White metal cast figure of Hercules from one of the tampion big guns of HMS Hercules.
This would have originally been mounted onto a large wooden tampion.
HMS Hercules was a Colossus-class battleship built by Palmers, launched in 1910, and commissioned in 1911 at Portsmouth.
In August 1914 she joined the Grand Fleet.
At the Battle of Jutland, she fought in the 6th Division along with Marlborough, Revenge and Agincourt
1916, HMS Hercules was transferred to become flagship of the 4th Battle Squadron.
Sold to a German ship breaker, HMS Hercules left Rosyth Dockyard under tow, to be scrapped at Kiel.
