Original Union Castle Shipping Line Cabin Sink – Ashworth Brothers
A superb find , years ago we were lucky to board the RMS Windsor Castle and bring home a whole array of 1950s fixtures and fittings, navigational instruments and hardware. This formed a large part of our love affair with mid century ocean liners and passenger ships.
The sink is from a cabin , aboard one of the Union Castle’s fleet . The logo of the shipping line and was made by the same company that made the crockery for the RMS Windsor Castle, Ashworth Brothers.
The white marble effect basin with soap recesses and the original plug and chain. In great condition , considering its life and age, no obvious cracks , chips or dents. Perfect to fit and use.
The makers marks to underneath which dates this pre 1968.
The Union-Castle Line was a British shipping line that operated a fleet of passenger liners and cargo ships between Europe and Africa from 1900 to 1977. It was formed from the merger of the Union Line and Castle Shipping Line.
