Ornate Compass and Telegraph Set – Gunboat Guendolen 1899

A rare and superb set of ornately mounted Kelvin Bottomley & Baird compass alongside a France and Morgan elegant telegraph

Very unusual that these two pieces are still together after all these years

Accompanying book called Lake Mawali Steamers. Shown in the book which details the history and photographs of Guendolen and the World War 1 German Gunboat she took out of action the Hermann Von Wissmann

Guendolen was built by G Rennie & Co. Greenwich London 1897 and shipped out to Fort Johnstone the following year for assembly. Guendolen was the largest ship to sail on the lake
