HMS Bideford was a Shoreham Class Sloop
Built Devonport Dockyard and launched 1931
HMS Bideford was part of the China station on the outbreak of WW2. On her journey back home HMS Bideford formed part of the escort Convoy HGF 14 from Gibraltar to the UK, attacking a suspected submarine contact off Cape Finisterre in early 1940
In May 1940 HMS Bideford took part in the Dunkirk evacuation. She was struck by a German bomb, which set off on of her depth charges, badly damaging the ship
