Comes encased in it’s original box with the trade label for W.F. Stanley
Designed by Edward Massey c.1850 and manufactured by Stanley London
This unique instrument is used to measure the speeds of tides or currents as well as being used in surveys for measuring lakes
5 dials for feet and miles, a cigar-shaped brass float and registering wheel work with a very light rotator which will revolve in the slowest currents
Featured in T Sharp’s illustrated book Distance Run – The Story of the Patent Ships Log you will find this instrument illustrated on Pg 139, as a free copy will be included
In great condition considering its age and use
