HMS Skye was primarily used as a minesweeper

The MS Trawler comprised 197 vessels built between 1939 and 1945 in the nearly identical Isles, Dance, Tree and Shakespearean classes

In 1949 HMS Skye remained in service of this type 31 trawlers and four controlled minelayers in the Royal Navy , the others were disarmed as wreck disposal vessels
