Collection: The Mark Caroe Collection
Provenance: From the important collection of Mark Caroe, passionate RN collector and TM friend, a collector who only bought ‘the real McCoy’.
This was his Screen Badge collection, the boat badge part of his collection recently went to the NMRN but they reneged on this screen badge collection due to lack of available funds. We were delighted to have the opportunity to step in and buy these important screen badges and miscellaneous effects, much of which were once part of the famed Ferrers Walker collection, whilst the rest of the pieces were bought direct from the MOD disposal sales via appointed auctioneers in the 90’s and early 2000’s.

NB. Traditionally Wartime and pre-wartime badges were cast bronze, as some in this collection are. At the end of the War and into the Cold War period though, through shortage of non ferrous metals, other lighter weight alloys were used, and then eventually resins.
Research, interviews of the main authorities on the subject and individual assessment of each of these pieces leaves us 100% sure that these alloy and resin badges were onboard the Ship and you will receive our certificate of provenance with relevant information with each purchase. Beware, there are many artefacts being offered and sold that have never been anywhere near the Ship, with Trinity Marine you can feel rest assured you are getting the ‘Real McCoy’.
