HMS Vidal was a Survey Ship.
Built in Chatham Dockyard , commissioned in 1954.
HMS Vidal spent her career carrying out surveys for the Navy, and supporting scientific work for the British government.
She played her part for the British government in securing the islet of Rockall during the Cold War, and raising the Union jack in 1955.
HMS Vidal was broken up in 1976.
