Rodger Jameson – The Original Trinity Marine
In the words of Mark Jameson, son of the ‘original’ Trinity Marine founder Rodger, “My Dad was the first nautical ‘Indiana Jones’ who travelled the globe to seek out the most beautiful, soulful, story-filled ships. He was the ship salvaging original, and he’ll forever be the best! He pretty much singlehandedly created the nautical salvaging and re-imagining concept.”
“He was fascinated by the stories of each and every ship, and all the unique pieces that each vessel offered up, and he evolved our Trinity way and our beautiful, hard-working business. As his offspring and his team, we honour him each and every day with our Trinity family of marine crafters and grafters.”
Mark continues, “Everything Dad taught us, and everything he stood for – honesty, collaboration, co-operation and fairness – as well as the techniques he developed, are still at the core of what we do here in the Teign Valley day-in, day-out. He was all about us doing everything in the right way, as a salvager, a maker and a trader and merchant. It’s an honour and a pleasure to find these pieces and to reclaim and preserve them, turning them around for new lives in contemporary homes and settings. It was never an easy trade, and it never will be. But it’s certainly never boring.”
Mark concludes, “Like my father Roger did in the early days, we all feel the same excitement and marine ‘tingle’ when a new delivery comes in. It’s the same thing when we develop a new way with an original piece, or now, these days, in the sustainable remakes that we are creating with the actual materials from the same ships that the originals come from. I can’t imagine doing anything else and we’ll continue to walk in the footsteps of those ‘olden days’ nautical designers and makers, honouring, preserving and then purveying their art. And we’ll all continue to feel very lucky to be doing so.”
