Collection: MS Augustus
In 2011, a lamentable event marked the end of an era for vintage ocean liner salvage when one of the last magnificent mid-century ocean liners met its fate in an Indian scrapyard. MS Augustus, a masterpiece of Italian craftsmanship, was launched in 1952 and stood as the final testament to a renowned Italian fleet that once plied the Italy to South America route, with its counterparts either torpedoed or consigned to the scrapyard. This ocean liner, born during the swan-song period of European shipbuilding, bore witness to the convergence of the finest designers, craftsmen, and materials. Consequently, a substantial portion of her original elements endured, allowing for their recovery and preservation.
