This beautiful mid-century desk was from the administrative areas of the very special MV Augustus, Flagship, at launch, of the Italia Lines.
The M.V. Augustus of the Italian Line (completed in 1952) was one of the most elegant post-war ocean liners. She represented the rebirth of Italian passenger shipping after World War II and was designed to combine modern engineering with the refined style for which Italian design became renowned.

The interiors were unmistakably Italian, featuring work by leading architects, painters and sculptors of the period. Rather than copying British or French liner traditions, the décor embraced post-war Italian modernism with rich walnut and fine veneers and bespoke furniture with clean mid-century styling.
She sailed from Rome to Rio the slow, glamorous way, ‘The Lido Life’; wealthy upper & middle class Italians cruising there way down the Atlantic in there opulent 5 Star Italian hotel, just imagine.
Trinity Marine were leading salvagers of furniture, fixtures & fittings from this glorious ship when She was sadly scrapped in 2012.
