4 Pint Orient Line Water Jug C.1940’s.
A wonderful 4-pint Orient Line water jug, made in England by the North Staffordshire Pottery Co. Ltd of Cobridge for use aboard Orient Line passenger ships. Finished in classic white glazed pottery, the jug features the distinctive Orient Line anchor emblem to the front and retains the original manufacturer’s backstamp to the base.
The Orient Line was established in 1878 and became famous for its passenger and mail services between Britain and Australia, operating some of the great ocean liners of the 20th century. It later became closely associated with P&O before being fully absorbed into the company during the 1960s.
Its generous four-pint capacity and robust construction reflect its practical shipboard origins. Showing genuine signs of age and service, this is an evocative piece of ocean liner history and an excellent addition to any collection of maritime memorabilia, shipping ceramics or vintage hotelware.
