One of Her very earliest badges, from one of Her 4” guns, cast and created at the time of launch in 1918, and just months before badge designs across the Royal Navy fleet were changed and made ‘official’. This, the profile of Cardinal Wolsey was soon after updated to the ‘blue leopard’.
HMS Wolsey was a Royal Navy W-class destroyer launched in 1918 near the end of World War I. She saw limited WWI action but became more active in the interwar years, serving with the Atlantic and Mediterranean fleets. During World War II, Wolsey was heavily engaged in convoy escort duties, protecting merchant shipping from German U-boats and aircraft, particularly in the Atlantic and North Sea. Despite her age, she remained effective until being decommissioned in 1945 and subsequently scrapped, having served nearly three decades.
