A finely executed scale model of the barque Constellation, displayed in its original glazed mahogany case with an engraved presentation plaque recording the vessel’s launch at West Quaco, New Brunswick, on 7 August 1839. The plaque further notes her dimensions and port of registry, St. John’s, N.B.
Beautifully detailed throughout, the model features a fully rigged three-masted sailing ship with hand-sewn canvas sails, intricate standing and running rigging, deck fittings, lifeboats, anchors, and finely painted hull. The quality of workmanship and presentation suggests it was produced as a display model rather than a toy.
Presented in an elegant period display case that has preserved the model exceptionally well, this is a striking piece of maritime craftsmanship. An outstanding addition to any nautical collection, yacht club, museum, or interior, celebrating the artistry of ship modelling and the rich seafaring heritage of nineteenth-century Atlantic Canada.
