A skilfully and lovely made  impression one of HMS Ark Royal’s gun tompions no doubt done by one of the crew members either whiling away peacetime at sea or as a useful  distraction from the theatre of War. Lightly and carefully hammered in copper and mounted on wooden plinth, an evocative and charming piece, the Naval equivalent of ‘trench art’.
