HMS Ark Royal (R07) – Teak Ballpoint Pen – Slim

A remarkable piece of British naval history, beautifully handcrafted into a unique writing instrument.

Individually handcrafted on a lathe by a highly skilled artisan pen-maker in Scotland, using genuine Burmese teak reclaimed from the magnificent timber ladders salvaged by Trinity Marine from HMS Ark Royal in 2013.

Each pen is individually turned and finished, with natural variations in colour, grain and shape ensuring no two are ever quite alike. The high-quality gunmetal-finished fittings beautifully complement the warmth, character and distinguished naval heritage of this historic timber.

Presented in a smart black metal gift case, with the ship’s name engraved on the lid and details of the timber’s provenance permanently recorded on the reverse. A spare ink refill is also included.

These exclusive writing instruments are available only through Trinity Marine, the only company granted permission to board The Mighty Ark and salvage significant quantities of her original fixtures, fittings and artefacts.

The History of HMS Ark Royal (R07)

Built by Swan Hunter and commissioned in 1985, HMS Ark Royal was an Invincible-class aircraft carrier that served during the Bosnian conflict and 2003 Iraq War. Affectionately nicknamed ‘The Mighty Ark’, she was a former Royal Navy flagship before being decommissioned in 2011.

In 2013, she arrived in Turkey for dismantling, where Trinity Marine recovered numerous historic artefacts, including the beautiful Burmese teak ladders from which these pens are crafted.

Once part of a mighty Royal Navy aircraft carrier, this historic timber has been given a new lease of life, creating a unique and practical keepsake to be treasured for generations.
