Excellent original badge, once on display at the Royal Navy Museum, from one of the first Town Class ships.
HMS Birmingham (C19) was a Town-class light cruiser built at Devonport, laid down in July 1935, launched in September 1936, and commissioned in November 1937. Serving initially on the China Station, she took part in World War II patrolling Norway, escorting convoys, evacuating troops, and hunting major German warships. Post-war, she saw action in the Far East, supported Korean War operations, and later served with the Mediterranean Fleet. She was the last of her class, decommissioned in December 1959 and broken up in 1960.
