The beautiful original carved honours from HMS Comus.
Because Royal Navy vessels do not carry regimental colours, they display Battle Honour boards on their superstructure. Traditionally carved in solid teak with the ship's badge and scrolls, these record successful war service and actions.
HMS Comus (R43) was a C-class destroyer built by John I. Thornycroft, launched in 1945 and commissioned in 1946. She served mainly with the 8th Destroyer Squadron in the Far East, taking part in the Korean War, assisting a merchant ship attacked by pirates in 1951, and supporting operations during the Malayan Emergency. Withdrawn from service in 1955, she was scrapped in 1958.
Originally from the famous Ferrers-Walker Naval collection once on display at the Portsmouth Naval Museum.
