A tompion from one of Her six 4.5 inch guns. Faintly marked with A on the reverse. Lovely worn but healthy condition. HMS Daring (D05) was a Daring-class destroyer of the Royal Navy, launched in 1950 and commissioned in 1952. Built by Swan Hunter, she was one of the last all-gun destroyers of the Royal Navy and served primarily in the Mediterranean and Far East.During her service, HMS Daring undertook patrols, fleet exercises, and diplomatic visits. Notably, she assisted during the Indonesian Confrontation.
HMS Daring was decommissioned in 1968 and sold for scrap in 1971. Her design influenced later destroyers, and she represented a transition in naval warfare before missile-equipped ships dominated.
