HMS Dragon was a Danae Class Cruiser built by Scotts Shipbuilding & Engineering Company, Greenock. Carrying the Prince of Wales, HRH Albert VIII,on the start of the Royal Tour. HMS Dragon, took part in the Russian Civil War as part of the British intervention in the Baltic, taking a hit by from German forces in RigaIn 1924, HMS Dragon was part of the First Cruiser Squadron, Atlantic. During 1924, she was attached to a task force with HMS Hood, HMS Repulse & others, performing various tasks around the WorldShe was stationed in Zanzibar, Ceylon, New Zealand, Fiji, Canada, & Jamaica.
Serving in WWII, HMS Dragon was initially attached to the 7th Cruiser Squadron of the Northern Patrol, operating against German U Boats in the Shetland area, and took part in the pursuit of the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee. After a short spell with the Polish Navy, she returned to the Admiralty and in was scuttled in July 1944 off the Normandy Beaches as part of the Arromanches Breakwater.
Unofficial badge design, as the badge pre dates the standardisation of all Royal Navy badges that came into effect in 1919. Before the standardisation a senior rank or the crew itself decided on the design that would be on the badge.
