From the submarine depot ship throughout WW2 and beyond. A nicely weathered and attractive patina alloy badge on teak backing.
HMS Forth (A187) was a Maidstone-class submarine depot ship of the Royal Navy, launched in 1938 and completed in May 1939. During WWII she served at Scottish bases such as Holy Loch and at Halifax, Canada. Postwar she operated in Malta, took part in the 1953 Coronation Fleet Review, and was refitted between 1962-66 to support nuclear submarines. From 1966 she was depot ship for the 7th Submarine Squadron in Singapore, renamed HMS Defiance in 1972, paid off in 1979, reverted to Forth, and scrapped in 1985.
