This impressive cast-bronze machinery plate was manufactured by Tokyo Kikai Co., Ltd., Tokyo, Japan, and records Machine No. S-5876-1, with a capacity of 8 tonnes / 18 m³. The equipment was completed in December 1970, during a period of extraordinary growth in Japanese shipbuilding and marine engineering.

The plate would have been permanently mounted on a substantial item of shipboard machinery, most likely cargo-handling or pumping equipment. Its heavy construction and raised lettering are characteristic of Japanese marine machinery plates of the era.
