Ocean Liner Cakestand - MV Augustus

This elegant silver-plated ocean liner cake stand was one that we salvaged from MV Augustus when we stripped Her at the shipbreaker. The stand features a broad circular serving dish raised on a substantial flared pedestal foot, with a decorative beaded detail to the centre. Designed for service aboard a passenger liner, pieces of this type formed part of the high-quality tableware used in dining rooms and public spaces at sea. Surface scratches and light wear remain as attractive evidence of its original working life.
