This attractive State Line Steamship Company silver-plated teapot is a fine example of late Victorian maritime silverware, produced for use aboard one of the company’s transatlantic passenger vessels. Elegantly proportioned, it features a decorative engraved floral border, hinged lid, arched carrying handle, and a finely shaped spout. The body is engraved with the State Line house flag and company name, making it a desirable piece of shipping line memorabilia. Founded in the 1870s, the State Line operated passenger and cargo services between Britain and North America before being absorbed into the Allan Line in the 1890s, making surviving pieces increasingly scarce. The teapot displays an attractive aged patina with light wear consistent with its age and shipboard service. An excellent addition to any collection of ocean liner, maritime, or antique silverware, and a striking display piece with genuine nautical history.
