This original cast bronze builder’s plaque is from the MV CAMERONA, a bus carrier built by Taiwan Shipbuilding Corporation (TSBC) of Keelung, Taiwan, and is dated 1976. The plaque records Hull No. 1057 and Serial No. 2034, and notes that the vessel was built under licence from Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (IHI) of Japan. During the 1970s, Taiwan Shipbuilding Corporation was one of Asia’s leading commercial shipbuilders, constructing tankers, bulk carriers, cargo ships and specialised vessels for both domestic and international operators using Japanese shipbuilding technology and expertise.

Featuring both English and Chinese inscriptions, this substantial cast bronze plaque would have been mounted aboard the completed vessel as the official builder’s plate.
