SS Jagersfontein – Vintage Wooden Ice Bucket

A delightful vintage ice bucket associated with the Dutch passenger ship SS Jagersfontein, dating from the 1940s.

Beautifully constructed with a richly figured, dark-stained wooden barrel-shaped body, complemented by polished metal fittings, a hinged carrying handle and a fitted lid. The interior features a removable-looking white liner, while the lid is particularly attractive, displaying a decorative metal badge depicting a sailing ship and bearing the name Jagersfontein.

SS Jagersfontein was operated by the Dutch shipping company Vereenigde Nederlandsche Scheepvaartmaatschappij (VNS), which maintained important passenger and cargo services between Europe and Africa.

An unusual and characterful piece of maritime memorabilia, equally suited to a home bar, drinks cabinet or nautical collection.

A wonderfully decorative reminder of the elegance of mid-20th-century ocean travel.
