Handsome small brass plaque from the submarine tender USS Fulton.
USS Fulton (AS-11), a Fulton-class submarine tender, was commissioned in September 1941. Following Pearl Harbor, she established seaplane bases in Nicaragua and the Galápagos before tending submarines at Pearl Harbor, Midway, Brisbane, Milne Bay, Saipan, and Guam—transporting Yorktown survivors and refitting submarines during WWII . Post-war, she supported Operation Crossroads at Bikini Atoll, was decommissioned in 1947, then recommissioned in 1951 to serve in New London, including NATO Atlantic exercises and becoming the first tender capable of supporting nuclear subs . Decommissioned finally in 1991 .
