USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) was a Kitty Hawk-class aircraft carrier commissioned on 29 April 1961. She served as the U.S. Navy’s forward-deployed carrier in Japan for a decade, participating in numerous operations, including the Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm, and the Global War on Terrorism. In 2008, she was replaced by USS George Washington (CVN-73) and returned to the U.S. Decommissioned on 12 May 2009 after 48 years of service, she was scrapped in Brownsville, Texas, in 2022.
